What Every School Board Needs to Know
Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming how students learn and how districts operate. PK–12 leaders will discuss how to create ethical, innovative frameworks for AI use, ensuring that technology enhances learning, deepens equity, and prepares students for success in a rapidly evolving world.
Session Chair: John Curtin

John has been working in the fields of data science, machine learning, and AI since 2011. His career has covered the finance, banking, insurance, investing, healthcare manufacturing, and now aerospace and defense manufacturing spaces, and each of their unique data-focused challenges. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Denver in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) program. His dissertation is focused on AI governance in the K-12 system, and how the state can help protect students, educators, and caregivers against misuse of records and AI-enabled systems. Professionally, he serves as the Cybersecurity and Compliance Leader for RTX Corporation’s Enterprise AI and Data function, and advises cybersecurity credentialing groups on how to regulate, use, and refine machine-driven data processing systems in methods that are efficient, secure, and ethical.
